·       Get out of bed. Do that now.

·       Go into the bathroom and remove all of your clothing. I have fat that gathers into massive love handles, stretch marks on every bit of skin that isn’t flat. But when my clothes are all off, with no fabric to bother me, no illusion of what my body looks like and all I can see is myself, I feel better. I feel more wholesome. Maybe you will, too.

·       Run your hands over it, turn around. Have no illusion of what your body looks like. It’s not as bad as you think. Get a good picture in your mind of anything you want to attend to. Make a list if you need to, only about your body.

·       Brush your hair through, if you have it.

·       Put your hair up and out of the way, if it’s long.

·       Floss and brush your teeth very well. Take your time on this. Do it twice if you need to. Your breath won’t feel as thick, you won’t feel as heavy.

·       Put on lots of chapstick or balm right afterwards

·       Wash any parts of your body that you need to.

·       Blow your nose until there’s nothing left, get it all out. You’re probably clogged up.

·       Clip your nails, take off any old polish. Push your cuticles back.

·       Wash your hair, if you want to.

·       If you (like to)shave, shave everything. You’ll feel weightless. Only fill up the bath a little bit and do it over the edge. You’ll just feel dirty if you sit in hair.

·       Drink a full glass of water. Don’t sip, don’t chug. Just don’t set it down until it’s gone.

·       Dress yourself in whatever way you feel ready for the day. Yoga pants, sweatpants, t-shirts, dresses, shorts. Whatever way that makes things easier.

·       Eat. Eat something. Don’t pull random bits of food from random boxes. Prepare it at once and sit down. Take this time to rest.

·       Get a drink of your choice, as long as it isn’t alcohol. As a matter of fact, if there’s alcohol on the counter, put it away. Don’t look at it. It will only give you a headache. Make yourself chocolate milk, water, a smoothie, a soda, whatever sounds nice.

·       Sit on the floor and forget about everything you need to think about. Set a timer for exactly one minute. Close your eyes, and during that one minute, pay attention to how your body feels. Ask yourself these questions. Am I sore anywhere? Stretch this bit out, put more pressure on it. Focus on your muscles. Keep your back completely straight. Did I eat enough? Think about your stomach. Focus on your breathing. Listen to the air. Can you hear the sound of your lights? A ceiling fan? Your joints? Don’t open your eyes until the time is up. This minute will pass very quickly.

·       Get a good old fashioned piece of notebook paper and a pencil. If you don’t have that use your phone or computer. Make a list of every little thing you need to do. Everything matters. Every errand, homework assignment, thing that needs cleaned, health issue… all of it.

·       Do it now. Check things off as you go. As you see things disappear, your head will be more clear.

·       Don’t forget to take your pills.

·       If you’ve been putting off your homework, fix yourself a snack and a tall drink of something warm. Get all of the supplies you need. Sit down and plow through it. If you need help with homework, message a friend, a family member, even message me. I’ll try and help you. It won’t take as long as you think, your mind is just cluttered. Repeat to yourself “this is what I am working on now. This is what is important now. I will feel lighter when I am finished.” Even if the assignment is due in a few weeks, more than likely it is too much to do in one night. Split it up into quarters. Work for one hour, and if you’re close, finish it off. Give yourself this one hour.

·       You don’t have to make your bed, but take off the blankets and shake them out. If there’s crumbs on the mattress, vacuum, or wipe them off. If you have dirty clothes, put them in the hamper.

·       Now that your day is free, deal with your social problems. Is there someone you’ve been meaning to apologize to? Something you’ve upset? Something you’re unsure of? You have all of the rest of the day to deal with it. Take your time.

·       Before bed, pay special attention to your face. Wash it, clean your ears, put on acne medicine, moisturize it. Anything on your face that needs to be attended to. See how beautiful you are? Your skin will drink it up, it will look better tomorrow. Do this constantly.

·       Listen to songs you haven’t in a while. You forgot that one verse, the reason why you kept it.

·       Make a list of questions. How does a remote work? Why do we have toenails? What is this word? Look them up. They’re right there to know.

·       Ask for help

·       It’s fine to cry. I feel warm in the face afterwards. I feel smaller afterwards, less huge. Less of a problem. You need to understand that we want to matter, but when we mess up we don’t want it to matter. It goes both ways. You are the most important person. Your mistakes only have weight to you. Nobody minds as much as you think they do.

·       Do these things. Do them now.

Fukigen na Mononokean Drama CD Translation Part 1

Hello! This is something I’ve been working on for the better part of a week, but I’ve been attempting to write a translation for the drama CD. It was… pretty rough, to be honest, and I’m sure there’s some mistakes here and there. Please feel free to correct me on absolutely anything.

The drama CD has two separate stories, and this is the first one. I’ll be working on the second one soon enough, but both of them are pretty long. Please beware of a wall of text below the cut.

Mononokean Meta Notes

Notes I’m keeping for my own reference about the Fukigen na Mononokean universe. Always editing, and feel free to suggest anything interesting/corrections if I get something wrong.
Characters
The Mononokean has a feminine, refined speech style (emoticons aside).
Ashiya speaks to Abeno politely (desu/masu form). It’s weird for Ashiya to do this because they’re the same age, but in a volume extra Ashiya says it became a habit and can’t stop. This led to a humorous misunderstanding where a teacher thinks Abeno is blackmailing Ashiya.
Abeno’s very good at keigo. But he doesn’t speak formally to any of his superiors (Legislator, Justice, Executive).
There have only been two Mononokean masters (Aoi and Abeno).
Ashiya goes to the Mononokean even when there’s no work to do (ch20). He hangs out with Fushimi and Saga on other days.
Ashiya drinks coffee/(milk). (ch14, 24)
Fushimi likes to give nicknames? (Ashiyan, Abenon) Ashiya and Saga also call him “Fusshi”. He’s in the photography club.
Fuzzy lives in the Mononokean. He seems to be able to read!! (ch25)
The stink from the potatoes seemed to affect Abeno a bit more, since he seemed to be at the point of coughing and gagging. Does he have a strong sense of smell?
Abeno can forcibly exorcise demons against their will (Manjiro). (He probably didn’t do it for Nobou because the demon needed to come to terms/he couldn’t concentrate with the smell)
Both Ashiya and Abeno seem to have undefined powers of some sort that emanates as wisps from their hands.
Ashiya’s seems to come out unconsciously when he’s angry (capybara incident) and makes demons freeze up.
Abeno’s also come out when he’s angry (ch11) but also when he tries to subdue demons (Yahiko, the Executive) and he’s aware of them. He didn’t seem to notice when Ashiya was displaying the power with the capybara (although he might’ve just been too angry to notice). Are their powers the same? Are they just general “demon-subduing” powers?
Locations
The Legislator’s place, Newt Lake, is ~an hour’s walk (by Abeno’s shortcut) from Koura’s medicine shop.
There’s a storage room in the Mononokean; Abeno doesn’t let anyone in. So far it seems to include: cushions, pillows, towels, Abeno’s clothes, an inflatable beach ball.
Near Zenko’s temple, there’s a farm and a large graveyard.
Ashiya/Abeno/Zenko’s high school has at least three floors.
The nurse’s office is on the first floor, straight down a hallway from the lockers.
There are at least two classes for the first years, 1-1 and 1-2. Ashiya and Abeno are in 1-2, Zenko is in 1-1.
Ashiya’s student number is 1. Abeno’s student number is presumably 2.
There’s a snack/lunch store in the school run by two old ladies. If when Ashiya went is any indication, the line always seems to be long. They sell rice balls, tea, and bread.
There’s a convenience store near the school? Since Ashiya considers running to it during lunch.
Clubs in the school include photography, broadcast, archery?, kendo?, soccer?, baseball?, tennis?, ping-pong?. (the ones in question marks are what Ashiya imagines in chapter 26, not confirmed if they actually exist)
Other
Ashiya starts wearing his short sleeved uniform in chapter 26. So is it summer? For the sake of simplicity, if we say June is the start of summer, then by chapter 26 it’s been ~two months in-universe? (Japanese school years start in April)
In the mundane world at least, demons seem to “disappear” (Kinako) as their way of dying, rather than leaving a body. If they have certain conditions they must live under (Manjiro in the ring), their bodies become unstable and may lead to disappearing if they don’t follow those conditions.
Demons grow larger when they’re anxious about something.
The Mononokean says “unlike demons, there’s a limit to how long humans can live”, implying that other than from outside causes, demons are technically immortal?
The foxes on the gates to the Underworld are significant in some way (from vol 6.5). Related to Yahiko’s reason for not being able to go to the Underworld? Also the foxes on the gates usually have their eyes closed, but were creepily open after exorcising Kinako (ch32).
The gates to the underworld cannot let through demons larger than a certain size (as in they literally, physically can’t fit).

Why am I a firm believer that Ashiya and Abeno are married

I find extremely adorable the multiple times abeno has to tell Ashiya to shut up. Honestly it looks like a newlywed pair

The hole chapter where Ashiya loses his power was totally Abeshiya. Abeno was so totally worried about him! He even went to the underground. The way he treats Ashiya can’t be just friendly. It’s ridiculous.
and Abeno is such a shy tsundere he doesn’t want people to know about how worried he is about his waifu
And if you look at this panel, other people also noticed just how much he cared about Ashiya. Just…!!! I can’t
Look at Ashiya noticing how much he cares. LOOK AT HIS HAPPY EXPRESSION. THEY LOVE EACH OTHER.
Here as you can see Ashiya is just surprised. He didn’t know Abeno cared about him so much. Don’t tell me this is brotp, this is love man. Abeno is head over heels for Hanae.
Seriously at this point even Abeno can’t hide the truth. Ashiya hurted a little the kid, but Abeno decided to take responsibility and buy the things he wants. He feels he has to compensate for the harsh words he said to Ashiya when he wanted him to have his powers back.
Now this is the important part. Can you picture the all-mighty Abeno, which proud surpasses real feelings, saying sorry to anybody? Yeah, me neither. He wouldn’t do it for just anybody, and then…
Ok he didn’t say the exact words, but this was his way of apologizing. He sucked up his pride and asked him to work for him again. Ashiya said yes, of course.
And that last statement is reaaaaaally important, beause now LOOK AT THE FACE ABENO DIRECTS TO ASHIYA. TELL ME THIS ISN’T LOVE AND I’LL KILL YOU. Hanae is just adorable, he wouldn’t let go of Abeno and I believe at this point he can’t deny he’s in love with him. That’s it. Marry me Hanae.
Of course, now we have Ashiya Hanae calling Abeno Haruitsuki handsome. I need not speak further but I’ll do it anyway
This is the face of a mother telling the father not to dissapoint their children. Abeno sucumbs to that lol.

Please appreciate the face of the legislator that has known Abeno for a while, absolutely surprised by the fact Abeno is showing concern on a human

Now let’s go to a recent chapter. look at Abeno. he noticed somethig fishy, and of course, if it involves his wife security he literally turns instantly to his badass mode. The demon is intimidated
and after making peace what does he asks for? Ashiya’s secret to keep being a secret. He doesn’t care what he may say about him or the mononokean, just about Ashiya.

now on Ashiya’s side, he just has to be depressed over tha fact his husbando hasn’t payed attention to him at all. And it’s true, HE IS ACTUALLY DEPRESSED.
